How it works
Size from your risk, not your gut
Decide what you can afford to lose first, then let the stop distance set the size. In Yuppie Trade, the Trader Desk adds a pre-trade checklist and locks you out after your daily loss limit, and our TradingView indicators draw the stop and three targets on every signal.
How is position size calculated?
Shares = (account size × risk per trade %) ÷ (entry − stop), rounded down. With a $25,000 account, 1% risk ($250) and a $2.50 stop distance, that's 100 shares. If the stop hits, you lose about $250 before fees and slippage.
What percentage should I risk per trade?
Many traders keep it between 0.5% and 2% of the account so a losing streak can't do serious damage. It's your decision; the calculator just shows what each choice means in shares and dollars.
What are 1R, 2R and 3R?
R is the amount you risk on the trade. A 2R target is twice that distance from your entry, so hitting it makes twice what you'd lose at the stop.
Does it work for short trades?
Yes. Put the stop above the entry and the calculator switches to a short, with targets below the entry.
A calculator, not investment advice. Fills, gaps and fees can make real losses larger than planned. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.
