Reading a Yuppie signal
Putting it together: what BUY · A · 84 means, and how the stop, targets and grade fit your plan.
5 min read
Everything in this course (trend, levels, risk, R) is built into the Yuppie indicators so you can see it on the chart instead of working it out under pressure. Here's how to read one.
BUY · A · 84
- BUY or SELL: the direction, confirmed on a closed candle (it doesn't repaint).
- A, B or C: the grade. Trend, momentum, volume and the higher timeframe are scored 0–100. A is 75+, B is 55+, C is weaker.
- 84: the score itself.
- Lines on the chart: the stop (beyond the recent swing) and three targets at 1R, 2R and 3R.
Fitting it into your plan
- Your plan decides which grades you take. Many traders only take A's.
- Size the trade from the stop on the chart with your 1% rule.
- Take partials at the targets and move the stop to break-even after the first.
- Signals are often wrong. The on-chart scorecard and our public scorecard show the losses too.
Key takeaways
- ✓Direction, grade and score in one label.
- ✓The stop and targets come with every signal.
- ✓You still decide the grade you take and the size.
